The Tweed family of Cheveley, Cambridgeshire
|
|
|
Cheveley Parish Church |
On this website I have tried to gather
together information, and unravel the complicated relationships between the
many Tweed family members descended from Thomas and Elizabeth Tweed who lived
in Cheveley from about 1685. I am descended twice over from Thomas and
Elizabeth: through their great granddaughter Mary Tweed (bp 1766) who married
Anthony Coe in 1798, and through their 3X gt granddaughter Elizabeth Tweed, bp
1805 who married her first cousin once removed, Anthony and Mary's son Thomas
Coe, in 1823.
Most information in this website relates to
those who were born before the twentieth century in order to avoid publishing
details of living relatives. I would welcome contact from other family
historians with an interest in this family. This website is based on
information found first hand in the parish registers (or transcripts accessed
at the SoG library), census returns and BMD indexes and certificates but I
would never have started without contact with other Tweed descendants,
especially Heather who set me on track with her extracts from the PRs, Don who
shared the research he had done at Cambridge Records Office and Ann whose Tweed
ancestors strayed across the border into Suffolk.
